Our Story
The name Kiezebrink has long been associated with European poultry farming, and in the early 1990s the original company was founded by Hanno Kiezebrink in the Netherlands. What began as a small operation supplying frozen day-old chicks to falconers soon grew to serve a wider range of exotic animal keepers across Europe. As borders opened within the EU, demand increased, and the product range expanded to include frozen rodents, specialist diets and nutritional supplements for an ever-growing variety of species.
To support this growth, a full-time nutritionist, Michiel Derks BSc, joined the team to provide expert guidance to customers looking for high-quality, species-appropriate diets.
Growth in the UK
The UK division was established in 2002 in Barrow, Bury St Edmunds, where it continues to operate under the leadership of Director Alasdair Gordon and Manager Sarah Patrick. Over the years, the company invested heavily in freezer capacity, order-processing systems, and temperature-controlled transport to support steady growth. These developments were made possible with the support of Lloyds Bank and several regional grant schemes.
Investments included new freezer vehicles, improved warehouse infrastructure, scanning systems, and expanded cold-storage facilities, all helping us to work more efficiently and offer fast, reliable delivery to our customers. In 2022, the UK site also installed a 72.9 kWh solar PV system, reducing our carbon footprint and improving sustainability.
The UK Community Renewal Fund is a UK Government programme for 2021/22. This aims to support people and communities most in need across the UK to pilot programmes and new approaches to prepare for the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It invests in skills, community and place, local business, and supporting people into employment. For more information, visit

Why We Became KB Animal Foods
As the company grew and our product range broadened far beyond the original poultry-farming roots, the name Kiezebrink no longer reflected who we were or the customers we served. To create a clearer, more approachable identity for pet owners, breeders and animal professionals across the UK, we rebranded as KB Animal Foods.
The new name keeps the familiar KB heritage while better representing what we do today, providing high-quality nutrition for exotic animals of all kinds.
Continuing Our Mission
Today, KB Animal Foods operates as an established supplier of frozen and dry exotic pet food, supplements and specialist diets. Although the brand name has evolved, our commitment remains the same: delivering safe, reliable, nutritionally sound food for the animals you care for.
As part of a progressive international organisation
Kiezebrink UK is constantly evaluating new products for introduction to the UK
market. Law and regulation in food safety, traceability, and animal welfare are
of major importance to the management of the company. This is encapsulated in
our strapline, 'Focus on Food' and our mission is to supply high-quality,
reliable animal feed, along with excellent advice and service.
