Product Information

In the thin air of the Andes Mountains, there is a very high level of UV radiation, causing alpacas and llamas in this natural habitat to produce a large amount of vitamin D in their skin. The alpaca pastures in Europe are located at much lower altitudes, resulting in much lower UV radiation. Additionally, we experience significantly fewer hours of sunshine during the winter, meaning the natural production of vitamin D3 by the skin is reduced during this period.

Vitamin D regulates calcium-phosphorus metabolism and is essential for healthy bone growth. A deficiency leads to rickets. Growing foals between 2 and 12 months old, in particular, have an increased need for vitamin D. Therefore, it is essential to supplement this extra during the winter months using this paste. Adult alpacas and llamas require sufficient daily intake of a portion of Alpamin to maintain adequate vitamin D levels.
